Back Cove Walking Tour

As part of our celebration of Clean Water Week (June 2 – June 6, 2019), the City is sponsoring a guided walking tour around Back Cove.  The tour will highlight a few of the many water resources infrastructure features around Back Cove and discuss their significance to clean water, healthy habitats and a thriving Portland.

The walking tour will take place along the existing public trail.  A full loop around the Cove and back is approximately 4.3 miles.  The tour will start at the parking lot on Preble Street, across from Hannaford near the kiosk/map.

Update June 2019: Thank you to all attendees! Photos from the event are now available below:

Water is essential and touches all of our lives, frequently in multiple ways. We consume it, we play in it, we make our livings from it and we are stewards of it. The Portland Department of Public Works Water Resources Division invites you to its first public information meeting to discuss the development of our Integrated Plan for Water Resources.

  • Learn how the Integrated Plan will help the City prioritize spending on drinking water, wastewater and storm drain systems in the future.

  • Hear what the City is currently doing to address needs to benefit residents, businesses and the environment.

  • Share your feedback. Through informal and one-on-one discussions with the planning team and City staff, you can offer your thoughts on the process and the goals important to you to protect public health and the environment.

The snow date for the Feb. 27 meeting is March 6, same time and place. View the press release here.

***This meeting was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 9, but postponed to Feb. 27 due to hazardous travel conditions.***
